Ingredients

  • 400g tofu
  • 1 tbsp brown rice flour
  • 2 tsp rapeseed oil
  • 1 tsp groundnut oil
  • 2 red onions, thinly sliced
  • 5 fresh red chillies, thinly sliced
  • 3 garlic cloves, finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp grated fresh ginger
  • 2 tbsp tamari
  • 1 tsp runny honey
  • 2 tbsp crushed black pepper
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds
  • 2 spring onions, finely sliced

Method

  1. Cut the tofu into 3cm squares and toss them in the rice flour to coat; shake off the excess flour. Heat the rapeseed oil in a frying pan and fry the tofu until golden on all sides, turning the pieces frequently so that they cook evenly. Transfer the tofu to some kitchen paper and set asid
  2. Wipe out the frying pan with kitchen paper, then set on a medium heat and add the groundnut oil. When it is hot, add the red onions, chillies, garlic and ginger. Cook for 10 minutes until the onions are soft. Add the tamari, honey, black pepper and sesame seeds and stir to mix.
  3. Return the tofu to the pan and warm it through, stirring gently to mix with the other ingredients. Serve hot, garnished with the spring onions.
